The Four Nations of Earth, Air, Fire and Water are heading back to the tabletop, with Magpie Games unveiling details on a new supplement for their Avatar Legends RPG. Entitled Spirit World, the upcoming product is billed as a “setting toolkit” that offers both players and Game Masters new mechanics and lore around the mysterious supernatural realm that has featured prominently in the Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra television series.
Fans of the Avatar Legends RPG, however, will have to wait a little while longer to venture into the Spirit World, as the supplement will first launch as a crowdfunder sometime in late 2026, with a preview page available now on Kickstarter.
Below, we yip yip into all the details.

What is Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game?
Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game is an officially licensed TTRPG produced by Magpie Games and set in the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Players take on the role of characters from one of the four nations of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, with the option to play in one of five main historical era (the Kyoshi Era, Roku Era, Hundred-Year War Era, Aang Era and Korra Era).
Mechanically, the game uses the Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) engine, which leans into a relatively rules-light, narrative style of play, with most actions resolved by rolling 2d6 and adding your stats. Rather than classes, players choose options from one of 10 Playbooks (a core feature of PbtA), which provide backgrounds, training and roles.

The game also features a Balance Track, which requires characters to juggle two opposing principles (such as Tradition versus Progress) with shifting too far to either side resulting in mechanical, in-game consequences. The game also allows players to Bend one of the four elements (a hallmark of the franchise), with combat being relatively fast and simple.
Notably, Avatar Legends was first launched as a Kickstarter in 2021, generating a record-breaking $9.5 million USD in funding (making it one of the top TTRPG crowdfunders of all time). The core rulebook later won a 2023 Gold ENNIE Award for Best Rules, with the accompanying Starter Set picking up the Gold for Best Family Game/Product.
Since then, Magpie Games has released three more supplements: Wan Shi Tong’s Adventure Guide, Uncle Iroh’s Adventure Guide and the Republic City Guide. The publisher has also released two quickstart guides which were given out for Free RPG Day and which are now available for purchase: Rebels & Refugees and Movers & Shakers.

What’s included in the Avatar Legends: Spirit World supplement?
As the name suggests, the new supplement is all about the mysterious supernatural realm known as the Spirit World which features prominently in the lore of the franchise. The book will be roughly 140 pages in length and is designed for both players and GMs. It will include:
- A gazetteer: Details the history of the Spirit World, its impact on the mortal world and key spirit figures.
- New rules: Covers travel to the Spirit World and interactions with the beings who dwell there.
- New character Playbooks: Includes three new character options: The Philosopher, The Renewer and The Student.
- An adventure: Entitled The Lost Village that includes NPCs from the franchise, including Zaheer, Jinora and Pathik.
