TTRPG Community Backs “Power Word Meal” Charity Event

TTRPG fans and publishers from across the hobby are coming together to support Power Word Meal, a new tabletop charity event focused on helping to feed vulnerable populations around the world.

The event is organized by TTRPG YouTuber William Earl (better known as DND Shorts), with all proceeds benefiting the UN World Food Programme. The even is also being supported by ShareTheMeal, a charitable organization that has delivered over 260 million meals to communities in need worldwide.

What is the Power Word Meal TTRPG charity event?

Power Word Meal is a week long event that is running online. Any donation made to via the events online portal unlocks a PDF, which consists of the following content (with variants of each item designed for both Pathfinder 2e and Dungeons & Dragons 5e).

• A Bestiary consisting of five new monsters (the Flickerhound, Polar Wolf, Ice Scamps, Ethereal Wolf and Gift Dragon)
• An adventure for Level 2 characters entitled Mush! Food Rush!! that involves transporting emergency provisions by dog sled across a winter wasteland to a remote dwarven enclave.
• Four maps for the adventure created by popular designers CZEPEKU
• A new ancestry/species known as a Powgarfoot (which is a polar bear-like humanoid)

Notably, the PDF also includes original artwork by Sinlaire, Richard Nguyen and Doug Wallace, with the adventure written by Willy Abeel, a senior game designer at MCDM.

What TTRPG brands are supporting Power Word Meal?

A number of major TTRPG brands are supporting the event, offering additional material beyond the PDF and including prizes for a giveaway that will occur at the end of the event with winners selected at random:

• Paizo will be donating one meal for each backer of their ongoing Pathfinder Quest board game campaign, which is currently running on BackerKit
• CZEPEKU are donating a bumper pack of maps, tokens and scenes for every donor, in addition to bonus rewards and donating 10,000 meals directly to Power Word Meal.
• StartPlayingGames are matching donations up to $2,000 and donating 100% of their profits from games run on their platform that feature Power Word Meal content.
• Loot Tavern are donating directly to the fundraiser and contributing to the prize giveaway.
• AlchemyVTT has integrated the adventure onto their platform and are also donating directly to the event.
• DMsGuild have donated five new expansions for everyone who supports the project.
• Roll For Combat have donated 3,000 meals and four books from the BattleZoo Bestiary collection for the giveaway.

Final Thoughts

It’s fantastic to see both TTRPG fans and publishers come together to support a great cause and at the time of this writing the event has far surpassed its target goal of 150,000 meals.
