First introduced in 2019, Paizo’s Pathfinder Second Edition has grown into one of the biggest tabletop RPGs on the market, with dozens of rulebooks, setting guides and adventures bringing the game to life. Yet the massive amount of content, and a new Remastered version in 2023, also means figuring out where to start can be challenging for both new and veteran players alike.

To help make sense of it all, we’ve put together this complete list of every PF2E book, organized into six categories: the Core Rulebooks you need to play, Supplements that offer additional rules, GM tools and character options, the Lost Omens line that fleshes out the Golarion setting, Standalone Adventures you can pick up and run alone or as part of a larger campaign, Adventure Paths that offer a complete start-to-finish campaign collected into single hardcover volumes, plus a full list of Upcoming books that have officially been announced but aren’t yet available. For each book we’ve also included a publication date, whether it’s for Players or GMs (or both), info on what it’s all about and whether it’s original PF2E or the Remaster.

One other important thing to note is that Pathfinder books come in multiple versions, which range in price and format. This includes PDFs (which are available through both Paizo and DriveThruRPG), pocket editions and deluxe limited editions. For ease of reference, we’ve included links to the standard hardcover versions and PDFs.

Core Rulebooks

Below are the core rules you actually need to run Pathfinder 2E at the table. One important to note is that in 2023 Paizo released Pathfinder 2E Remastered, which is technically fully compatible with all previous 2E materials, but introduced a few minor rules updates and tweaks. The Remaster also broke out what was once a single 2019 PF2E Core Rulebook into separate Player Core and GM Core books. For ease of reference, below we call out if a book has been Remastered.

This complete guide for players contains all of the PF2E core rules, covering everything from character creation and combat, to exploration and class features. Note that while you can still use this book without any issue, the 2023 Remaster split the contents into two updated products: Player Core and GM Core. This base Core Rulebook from 2019, however, is still a great option.
