A big part of the appeal of the Starfinder RPG is the incredible array of technology that exists in the setting, with everything from sentient energy weapons and magical super computers to interdimensional armor and living starships.
Now, Paizo is offering even more high-tech treats in the form of Starfinder: Tech Core, a new book for the second edition of Paizo’s popular science fantasy TTRPG filled with an array of new items, equipment, weapons, gadgets, gizmos and character options.
Slated for release in the fall of 2026, the book is available for pre-order now from your local game store and the Paizo website. Below, we grab our utility belts and multi-tools and piece together all the details.

What’s included in the “Starfinder Tech Core” sourcebook?
Starfinder Tech Core is a 164-page sourcebook for Starfinder 2nd edition and includes:
- Two new classes: The Mechanic (a cybernetically enhanced engineer) and the Technomancer (a hacker who blends sorcery and software). Notably, both were featured in the April 2025 Tech Class playtest and are updates to classes originally featured in Starfinder 1st edition.
- New archetypes including the Nanocyte (who can control swarms of nano bots) and the Junkomancer (who can turn scrap into powerful items), both of which have also been previously featured in SF1E materials.
- New ancestries and versatile heritages, including SROs (Sentient Robot Organisms), living holograms and cyborgs.

- New starship rules: Expands on materials presented in the SF2E GM Core, with new updated mechanics for starship combat, crews and upgrades, plus sample enemy vessels and hazards.
- New rules for tech companions, including how to build, upgrade and control them.
- New Feats, with a focus on utilizing tech in combat, exploration and downtime.
- New spells, which allows players to connect arcane and advanced technology.
- New equipment, including armor, weapons augmentations and high-tech magic items.

How much is the “Starfinder Tech Core”?
An exact price has not yet been confirmed by Paizo, but based on what we’ve seen with recently released Starfinder 2E books with a similar page count (such as Galactic Ancestries), the standard hardcover will likely retail for $69.95 USD. Prices for additional formats have not yet been confirmed.
When is the “Starfinder Tech Core” coming out?
This product has a release date of October 7th, 2026. Pre-orders will likely open up in a the next months (we’ll update this page with exact dates once they’ve been confirmed).

Will there be alternate versions of “Starfinder Tech Core”?
Yes. Like most Paizo products there will be alternate versions, including:
- Pocket Edition: A smaller 6.7” x 8.4” softcover version designed for easier transport and a lower price point.
- Retailer Edition: Features a retro game packaging variant of the main Starfinder Tech Core cover art.
- Special Edition: A deluxe faux leather hardcover with metallic cover elements and ribbon bookmark.

Why we’re excited about Starfinder: Tech Core
- New equipment: While the SF2E Player Core and GM Core did include some weapons, armor and gear, Tech Core will expand on this in a big way, with new equipment to flesh out both characters and campaigns.
- New character options: The new classes, archetypes, heritages all sound amazing, particularly in terms of the return of the Technomancer and Mechanic.
- Better starship rules: While the GM Core offered some new mechanics for starship combat, they were definitely a little bit on the thin side. Having some meatier mechanics is something that SF2E absolutely needs.
- Building your own tech pets: The inclusion of these new rules sounds intriguing and something we haven’t really seen much of in any edition of Starfinder.

Final thoughts
Technology remains at the heart of Starfinder and the Pact Worlds, so it’s great to see it getting its own dedicated resource in the game’s second edition. In fact, it’s something we haven’t really seen since the Starfinder: Tech Revolution book launched back in 2022 for first editor.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the new Starfinder Tech Core book in the coming months and will offer a full review closer to launch. In the meantime, you can learn more and pre-order it now from your local game store and the Paizo website.
