New Achtung! Cthulhu Campaign Heads Into the Icy Heart of WWII

Modiphius Entertainment is heading to the frozen front of occult warfare with Achtung! Cthulhu: The Norway Projekt, a new World War II campaign set in Nazi-occupied Scandinavia, where eldritch horrors and atomic ambition collide. The book will be coming out later in 2026, but is available for pre-order now.

The Norway Projekt marks the latest entry in Modiphius’ 2d20 variant of Acthung! Cthulhu, following the recent release of the Horrors of the Secret War in the Fall of 2025. Below, we take a closer at all the bone chilling details.

What is “Achtung! Cthulhu: The Norway Projekt” about?

The Norway Projekt is a 156-page hardcover book that serves as both a campaign and sourcebook for Acthung! Cthulhu 2d20. The adventure begins as a rescue mission for captured resistance fighters and leads into a dark conspiracy that stretches from the icy mountains of Norway to the brink of Armageddon in a battle against the dreaded Nazi Nachtwölfe.

The book includes:

  • A new three-part campaign with nine linked missions across occupied Norway.
  • A comprehensive guide to Norway during World War II, complete with weapons, vehicles and equipment.
  • The introduction of the Flokk of the Allfather cult and their terrifying tome, The Spellbook of Azathoth.
  • New art, maps and player handouts (with digital versions available for free).

Notably, The Norway Projekt does require the Achtung! Cthulhu 2d20 Player Guide and Gamemaster’s Guide to use.

What is the Achtung! Cthulhu RPG?

Achtung! Cthulhu is a pulp-inspired tabletop RPG from Modiphius Games that combines the occult horror of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos with the drama and action of World War II espionage. In the game’s unique take on the Cthulhu mythos, Nazi sorcerers, elder gods and secret Allied divisions wage a shadow war far from the front lines, with players taking on the roles of Section M (Allied occult investigators) or members of Majestic (America’s paranormal intelligence division), using their skills, magic and guts to battle both the Axis powers and otherworldly entities.

Mechanically, Achtung! Cthulhu uses Modiphius’ 2d20 System, with players rolling two 20-sided dice and trying to get equal to or under a target number on each one (with difficulty determined based on key Ability scores).

Notably, the game was first released by Modiphius Entertainment in 2013 using the base Call of Cthulhu and Savage Worlds systems before being updated to the 2d20 rules set in 2021. Since then, Acthung! Cthulhhu has expanded with a number of other campaign books and supplements, including Shadows of Atlantis, Assault on the Mountains of Madness, D-Day: The Darkest Day and Forest of Fear.

How much is “Achtung! Cthulhu: The Norway Projekt”?

The hardcover edition retails for $54.78 USD (not including shipping and handling). Notably, the book will also likely be available in PDF format through the Modiphius website (although a price has not yet been listed).

When will “Acthung! Cthulhu: The Norway Projekt” be released?

An official release date has not yet been confirmed, but will likely be in mid-2026 (we’ll update this page with an exact date as soon it’s available).

Why is “Acthung! Cthulhu: The Norway Projekt” worth picking up?

  • Historical horror: As with other Acthung! Cthhulhu supplements, the book combines real WWII events and history (including the Nazi’s attempt to create their very own atomic bomb in Norway) with Lovecraftian cosmic horror.
  • A new campaign arc: Previous campaigns have been solid, offering a significant amount of gameplay with a satisfying narrative, so it’s likely we can expect something similar with The Norway Projekt.
  • Deep setting material: The book also has enough background material to run your own campaign set solely in Norway or expand on the core missions by dropping them into your existing campaign.
  • A great entry point for new players: If you haven’t already tried Acthung! Cthulhu or have new players looking to cut their teeth, this does sound like it could be a solid entry point.

Final Thoughts

While Call of Cthulhu gets most of the attention when it comes to Lovecraftian RPGs, Acthung! Cthulhu has been slowly growing in popularity over the years. With The Norway Projekt Modiphius looks to continues to expand on the game, offering another chapter from the darkest history of World War II.

You can pre-order a hardcover of The Norway Projekt now from Modiphius Entertainment.
