What is the new Cyberpunk RED “Night City 2045” supplement?

Night City 2045 is an upcoming 312-page sourcebook for the Cyberpunk RED tabletop RPG that’s designed for Referees and offers a detailed overview of Night City (which has been the primary setting for multiple versions of Cyberpunk). The book is broken out in the following sections:

  • A Complete City Overview: This includes 20 pages of foundational material, covering the history of Night City and what daily life looks like for the average resident scraping by in the Time of the Red. It also includes a breakdown on transportation, the government, law enforcement (including the notorious NCPD), corporations and the media (including pirate stations).
  • Flashmaps & Infrastructure: This section includes maps that cover transportation (including NCART and rail lines), hot spots (including bars, brothels, casinos and clubs), housing and communities, market hubs and medical facilities (including where to find both legal and underground ripperdocs).

  • District-by-District Breakdown: The heart of the book is a detailed district coverage, covering everything from the Old Combat Zone and Little China to Santo Domingo and the Executive Zone. Each district includes dozens of mapped locations and an overview on its population, notable NPCs and possible character gigs.
  • Playland by the Sea: This 11-page deep dive focuses on a sprawling amusement park packed with 55 mapped locations. The section covers NPCs, new rules for running scenes there and a special events calendar.

Notably, you will need the Cyberpunk RED Core Rules to use the supplement.

Final Thoughts

Night City has been an iconic Cyberpunk RPG location for years, but it’s one that we haven’t ever really seen explored at this level of detail. Whether or not it truly does justice to the so-called “City of Dreams,” however, remains to be seen.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this story in the days ahead and will provide a complete review closer to launch. In the meantime, you can learn more on the official R. Talsorian Games developers log.
