Shadowrun Gets Down and Dirty with “Mean Streets”

Catalyst Game Labs is about to enter one of the more dangerous corners of the Sixth World with Shadowrun: Mean Streets, a new runner resource book focused on the criminals, gang bangers and back-alley hustlers who exist beyond the neon glare of the corporations and ruling elite.

The book is slated for release in early March, but you can pre-order it now from most local game stores and the Catalyst website. Below, we throw on our mirror shades and check out all the gritty goodness.

What is Shadowrun: Mean Streets?

Mean Streets is new runner resource book for Shadowrun Sixth Edition. It includes:

  • Detailed lore on gangs and criminal organizations
  • Adventure hooks for street-level conflicts
  • GM advice for running criminal-focused campaigns
  • A broader look at how the streets function

While this type of content has appeared in past Shadowrun supplements, it’s never quite been explored in this level of detail, with a focus on street-level action beyond the control of the megacorps.

How much is Shadowrun: Mean Streets?

The physical print of the book will retail for $49.99 USD. A PDF version will also be available via DriveThru RPG, although an exact price point has not yet been confirmed.

When is “Shadowrun: Mean Streets” coming out?

The book is slated for release on March 4th, 2026, at which point it should be available online and from local game stores. The PDF version will also be available at this time.

Why we’re excited about Shadowrun: Mean Streets

  • Criminal chaos is classic Shadowrun: The gritty underbelly of the Sixth World has also been one of the best parts of the game, so it’s great to see it given a deeper treatment.
  • Urban ecosystem storytelling.: Exploring how gangs, shadowrunners and criminal enterprises interact gives GMs tons of faction-driven story hooks.
  • A different campaign tone: Not every run has to be a high-end corporate extraction. Sometimes the best stories come from neighborhood turf wars and personal vendettas.
  • Worldbuilding depth: The Sixth World feels most alive when we see how ordinary (and not-so-ordinary) people survive beneath corporate dominance.

Final thoughts

Shadowrun has always been a game that’s about the streets, yet the world of criminals, hustlers and thugs isn’t something that we’ve really seen fully explored in recent supplements. Whether this new sourcebook can make it out alive, however, remains to be seen.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this new book in the days ahead and will be putting together a review closer to launch. In the meantime, you can pre-order Shadowrun: Mean Streets now from your local game store and the Catalyst website.
