Fallout RPG Goes All In With New Vegas Setting Guide

The post-apocalyptic streets of Sin City are about to get a little more radioactive, with Modiphius Entertainment recently unveiling the New Vegas Setting Guide; the latest supplement for the Fallout tabletop RPG.

As the name suggests, the book is all about the iconic Wasteland locale; which has appeared extensively in the video games and the Amazon TV series. And while the content is primarily geared towards GMs, with new NPCs, enemies, locations and adventure hooks, it does also provide a few new character options.

The book will be coming out later this August, but you can pre-order it now from your local game store and the Modiphius website. Below, we shuffle up and deal out all the details.

What is the Fallout New Vegas Setting Guide about?

New Vegas Setting Guide is a 128-page sourcebook for Fallout the Roleplaying Game that contains the following:

  • New NPCs: Includes stat blocks and new rules for the numerous New Vegas inhabitants, plus additional companions and creatures. It also includes factional NPCs and enemies from the NCR and Caesar’s Legion.
  • New character options: Features two new Character origins (Courier and Three Families), eight new Character Traits, seven new Perks and an abridged version of the gambling rules originally found in the Royal Flush campaign book.
  • New locations: An in-depth guide featuring more than 25 locations in and around New Vegas, including the Hoover Dam and the Mojave Outpost, with descriptions, loot and quest hooks for each location.
  • New equipment: 30 new weapons including Zap Gloves and Multiplas Rifles, plus 11 new clothing and armor options, including the famed NCR Ranger Riot Armor.

What is New Vegas is Fallout lore?

New Vegas is one of the most iconic and influential locations in the post-apocalyptic Wasteland. It’s also not just a city, but an independent state controlled and owned by the wealthy, reclusive and seemingly immortal Mr. House. It’s a place where wanderers can try their luck at various casinos and stock up on weapons, supplies and virtually any illicit item you can think of.

New Vegas has, however, also been the site of significant power struggles, with factions including the New California Republic, Caesar’s Legion and Brotherhood of Steel all fighting for control of the nearby Mojave. Much of this conflict was centered around the Hoover Dam (also known as the “Old World Wall” by Wastelanders), before an uneasy peace treaty was established by Mr. House.

In the real world, New Vegas first appeared in the 2010 video game Fallout: New Vegas. In December 2025, it also appeared in the Viva New Vegas update for the Fallout Shelter video game. The city was also a major location in Season 2 of the Amazon Fallout TV series.

How much is the Fallout New Vegas Setting Guide?

The new sourcebook will retail for $55 USD (not including shipping and handling). Notably, if you pre-order now you’ll also receive the PDF version for free right away. The PDF will also likely be sold separately on DriveThruRPG at some point (although a price has not yet been confirmed).

Why we’re excited about the Fallout New Vegas Setting Guide

  • A classic Fallout location: New Vegas is one of the most iconic city’s in the Wasteland, so it’s great to see it finally get some time to shine in the Fallout tabletop RPG.
  • New faction details: There are some incredibly unique groups operating in the Mojave, particularly Caesar’s Legion (which is arguably one of the most gonzo groups in Fallout lore).
  • New character options: While the book is definitely geared more towards GMs, it sounds like it’ll also have a surprising amount of new PC material to choose from.
  • A solid tie-in to recent books: The supplement feels like it’s a natural fit for other recent releases, particularly if you’re thinking of running the recently released Royal Flush campaign.

Final Thoughts

New Vegas is arguably one of the most influential locations in Fallout lore, so it’s great to finally see it detailed for Modiphius’ TTRPG. Whether the book is a jackpot or a total bust for players, however, remains to be seen.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this new book in the days ahead and will be offering a full review closer to launch. In the meantime, you can pre-order it now from your local game store and the Modiphius website.
