Paizo is offering yet another way for new players to experience Pathfinder Second Edition, with a new introductory adventure box set entitled Pathfinder Game Night The Dragon’s Crown. The second installment in Paizo’s new “Game Night” line (following the Dawn of the Frogs box set released in 2025), the set includes dice, maps, pre-made characters and three short single-session adventures, offering everything first-time players and Game Masters need to try Pathfinder 2E for the first time. In this sense it’s similar to the Pathfinder Beginner Box, but is meant to be a shorter, standalone experience.

The new set is written by Paizo veteran Jason Keeley (who has been creating official Pathfinder content for over a decade). The set includes:

• A 32-page adventure book
• Four pre-generated player characters
• Poster maps of all combat locations
• A sheet of cardboard pawns for the PCs, NPCs and monsters
• A standard set of seven polyhedral dice

The adventure book (which is entirely for GMs) features three short, Level 1 adventures – each of which is designed to be run in a single session. The story takes place in the city of Korvosa and follows a crown that’s stolen from a local house drake (a kind of small, intelligent purple dragon species that typically dwells in urban rooftops). Players learn that it’s been taken by a pesky imp (a species often in conflict with house drakes) and are tasked with bringing back the treasure. What starts out as a simple recovery mission, however, soon turns more deadly when the players run afoul of a local crime lord and must venture into the monster-infested sewers below the city.

It’s worth noting that while the adventures are designed to introduce first-time players to Pathfinder Second Edition, they can also be run as part of the Pathfinder Society organized play program, with Paizo providing guidelines on using them.

The goal is for easy onboarding, offering everything a group needs to get started and featuring adventures that are structured to gradually introduce the Pathfinder 2e rules.

The Game Night product line is a radical departure from Pathfinder’s more well-known Adventure Paths, which are multi-part, epic campaigns that often span levels 1 through 20 and can take months or even years of playing to complete.

The first Game Night product was Dawn of the Frogs which was released in September 2025 for Pathfinder 2E, but Paizo also released a Starfinder Game Night box set entitled Murder in Metal City which came out in July 2025.
