Werewolf: The Apocalypse Braces for The Coming Destruction

Renegade Game Studios is about to get on Gaia’s bad side with The Coming Destruction, a new supplement for Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition. The book is designed to provide a complete entry-level chronicle for first time players, while also offering enough modular content that more experienced Storytellers can drop into an existing game.

The book is currently slated for release on May 13th, 2026, but you can pre-order a copy now from your local game store, the Renegade website and DriveThruRPG. Below, we dig our claws into all the details.

What is Werewolf: The Apocalypse: The Coming Destruction?

The Coming Destruction is designed as a dual-purpose supplement, serving as both a complete starter Chronicle for new players and offering a modular “Storyteller’s toolbox” for veteran players (notably, in the World of Darkness RPG system a “Chronicle” is a campaign, while adventures are known as “stories” which are often broken out into “arcs”).

In the chronicle, players take on the role of newly-changed Garou who must find their place within the Nation. This includes deciding which Sept to join while mastering their newfound abilities and facing down an impending disaster that threatens the entire planet. The book includes:

  • New stories: This consists of 23 stories across 4 connected arcs. Notably, they can be run together as part of a complete year-long chronicle or dropped into an existing chronicle.
  • New NPCs: The book includes 10 Storyteller characters that can be used as friends or foes and which can be used in the Chronicle or dropped into an existing game.
  • New locations: There are 8 locations and 3 complete Septs, the latter of which also include NPCs, story hooks, equipment and lore.
  • Extra scenes and hooks: There are two appendices that feature additional plug-and-play scenes that can be dropped into the Chronicle, along with Storyteller advice and ideas on how to run things.

How much is The Coming Destruction?

The hardcover edition is priced at $50.00 USD (plus shipping and handling). If you pre-order directly from Renegade Game Studios, you’ll also receive a free PDF copy of the book as soon as it launches. The PDF will also be available around that time via DriveThruRPG (although a price has not yet been confirmed).

When is The Coming Destruction coming out?

The book is currently schedule for release in May 13th, 2026. At that point it will be fully available online and a local game stores.

Why we’re excited about The Coming Destruction

  • Content modularity: With almost two dozen stories that can be run together or standalone, the book sounds like it offers a ton of flexibility in terms of how you use the content.
  • The perfect on-ramp: WtA lore can be notoriously dense. Having a dedicated starter chronicle that eases players into the Garou Nation and the Umbra feels like a much needed entry-level product for newbies to the World of Darkness.
  • Storyteller tools: The book sounds like it has enough meat in terms of NPCs, locations and story hooks that more experienced Storytellers can drag and drop into an existing Chronicle.
  • New lore: Although this feels like more of an introduction to Werewolf: The Apocalypse, t’ll be interesting to see if there is any new Sept or Tribe lore included that hasn’t already been covered in past supplements.

Final thoughts

The Coming Destruction feels like a unique approach from Renegade to bring in more new players to Werewolf: The Apocalypse, while also satisfying existing fans. Whether or not the book can walk the Umbra between these two worlds, however, is something that remains to be seen.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this new book and doing a review closer to launch. In the meantime, you can pre-order The Coming Destruction from your local game store, the Renegade website and DriveThruRPG.
