Paizo is expanding the lore and mythology of Golarion’s most iconic creatures with the upcoming release of Pathfinder Lost Omens: Draconic Codex, a new sourcebook dedicated entirely to all things dragon.
Rather than being a simple bestiary, however, Draconic Codex includes new lore, ancestries, heritages and character options. It’s the latest book in Paizo’s Lost Omens line, which drills into one particular aspect of the Pathfinder campaign setting. The book will be coming out this December, but you can pre-order it now from your local game store or the Paizo website. Below, we take a closer look at what’s inside.

What is the Pathfinder: Draconic Codex about?
The Draconic Codex is a 224-page sourcebook for Pathfinder Second Edition that includes the following:
- Over 20 Dragon Statblocks: Expanding dragons first appearing in Monster Core 1 and 2, plus entirely new species.
- Archdragons: Stats and lore on ancient, near-mythic dragons of incredible power who represent the apex of their species.
- Dragon Physiology & Lore: A deep dive into the life cycles, anatomies and cultures of various dragon species.
- Nine Draconic Deities: Gods worshipped by dragons and mortals alike, offering new divine options and campaign hooks.
- Ancestries & Heritages: Expanded dragonblood and kobold options, along with the new Dragonet ancestry.
- Draconic Pacts: Rules for forging long-term bargains and partnerships with dragons of both good and evil.
- New Player Options: Includes the new Draconic Acolyte archetype, plus new feats and backgrounds.

How Much is the Pathfinder: Draconic Codex?
The standard hardcover retails for $64.99 USD, with the Special Edition going for $84.99 USD (not including shipping and handling). A PDF version is also likely going to be released, although pricing details have not yet been confirmed.
When is the Pathfinder: Draconic Codex coming out?
Draconix Codex will be officially released on December 3rd, 2025, at which point it will be available for purchase from local game stores as well as the Paizo website.

What Is the Lost Omens Line?
Lost Omens is a line of Pathfinder sourcebooks that zooms in on one particular aspect of the Pathfinder campaign setting. New Lost Omens products are typically released each quarter and cover a wide range of supplement types, including gazetteers, bestiaries and character options. They also often include extra tie-in products (such as map packs) and are often closely associated with ongoing Adventure Paths.
Notably, Lost Omens has existed since Pathfinder First Edition, but the most recent Second Edition products are Rival Academies (which was released in March 2025) and Shining Kingdoms (which was published in June 2025). The next slated release is Hellfire Dispatches (which will be coming out in April 2026).

Final Thoughts
Dragons are an iconic part of Pathfinder, and while they have been explored in countless previously published materials for both PF1e and 2e, this new book feels like it’s trying to offer a fresh take on a classic creature. Whether it’s worth adding to your TTRPG hoard, however, remains to be seen.
You can pre-order Pathfinder Lost Omens: Draconic Codex now from your local game store or the Paizo website. Below is also a trailer from the official Paizo YouTube channel offering a bit more info on what’s included.
