Pathfinder Unveils New “Impossible Magic” Sourcebook

Pathfinder 2E players are about to get a massive infusion of magical power, with Paizo recently conjuring up details on its next major major rulebook. Entitled, Pathfinder Impossible Magic, the supplement for PF2E Remastered includes four new classes, new archetypes, new magic items and hundreds of new spells.

Notably, much of the content will be focused around the Impossible Lands; a region of Golarion where a millennia-long war between archmages has left reality frayed, leading to spells that can manipulate gravity, time and the fundamental laws of physics. Much of the book’s content was also previewed in the December 2024 Impossible Playtest, so it’s definitely been a longtime coming.

Pathfinder Impossible Magic is currently scheduled for release in July 2026, but you can pre-order it now from your local game store, the Paizo website and on Amazon. Below, we take a closer look at all the arcane details.

What’s included in Pathfinder Impossible Magic?

Impossible Magic is 200+ pages and is primarily geared towards P2E Remastered players (although GMs will also find plenty of content). Key features include:

  • Four New Classes: The book brings two existing Pathfinder classes into the 2E Remastered era: the Magus (combatants who blend melee weapons and magic) and the Summoner (magic users who can conjure up extraplanar beings to serve them). It also introduces two brand-new classes: the Necromancer (allowing players to summon and command the undead) and the Runesmith (a tactical caster who taps into the power of magical sigils).
  • 240+ New Spells: These range from utility cantrips to high-level spells that can alter the fabric of reality itself.
  • New Arcane Schools: These new options provide unique focus spells and backgrounds inspired by the Impossible Lands.
  • New Archetypes: Several of these new archetypes designed to give even non-magical classes (like Fighters or Rogues) a touch of reality-warping utility.
  • Wondrous Items: A collection of new artifacts and gear infused with the volatile essence of the Mana Wastes.

When will Pathfinder Impossible Magic come out?

Impossible Magic will officially be released on July 30th, 2026. At that time it will be available at local game stores and online.

How much is Pathfinder Impossible Magic?

The standard hardcover will retail for $69.99 USD. A Special Edition (with faux-leather cover) and retailer exclusive Sketch Edition will also be available (although prices have not yet been confirmed). A few months after release we’ll also see a Pocket Edition version available for purchase.

Why we’re excited about Impossible Magic

  • The Necromancer finally arrives: Almost two years after it was first released in the Impossible Playtest, the Necromancer is going to be available as a class for PF2E Remastered.
  • The magic of the Impossible Lands: This new type of reality defying magic is something we haven’t really seen before in past Pathfinder releases (although it was touched upon in Lost Omens: Impossible Lands sourcebook back in 2022).
  • The return of two classics: Magus and Summoner fans can finally see these two classes fully integrated with the new Remastered rules.
  • New spells and magic items: With over 240 spells and several new archetypes, this marks one of the biggest expansion to PF2E’s magical system since the launch of the Remaster.

Final thoughts

Paizo is clearly leaning into the weirder and wilder side of magic with this release and we’re 100% on board for it. We’ll be doing a full deep dive review closer to launch in July.

In the meantime, you can pre-order Pathfinder Impossible Magic now from your local game store, the Paizo website and on Amazon.
