Coriolis Lights Up the Dark With New Adventure Anthology

Free League Publishing is plunging back into the forgotten depths of space with the latest expansion for their gritty sci-fi TTRPG Coriolis: The Great Dark. Entitled The Fractured Library & Other Tales From the Lost Horizon, the upcoming supplement is a collection of five stand-alone adventures that can be dropped into an existing campaign, run as one shots or strung together as part of a single narrative.

The book is slated for release in the late fall of 2026, but you can pre-order it now from your local game store, Free League and DriveThruRPG. Below, we take a closer look at what’s included in this latest exploration of Charted Space.

What is the Coriolis: The Great Dark RPG?

If you’re not already familiar with it, Coriolois: The Great Dark is a science fiction tabletop RPG from Free League Publishing that was released in August 2025. Technically, it’s a new edition of Coriolis: The Third Horizon, although it uses a completely different ruleset and has advanced the setting and lore by several hundred years.

The game takes place in the distant future after a group of human refugees settle in a remote and seemingly uninhabited corner of the galaxy known as the Jumuah system. The colonists soon learn that the unexplored region is filled with mysterious ruins and powerful artifacts from a long extinct alien race. In addition, the region is home to the Blight; a deadly extraterrestrial plague that warps the mind and bodies of its victims.

Players take on the role of Explorers, forming tight-knit crews who use high-tech “Delver Suits” to venture into the darkness, exploring abandoned alien ruins, dodging Blight-warped nightmares and navigating conflict between the various forces vying for control. Play is focused on eleven star systems located in a region of space known as the Hammurabi Arm.

Mechanically, the game uses Free League’s Year Zero Engine (which has also been used in the Alien RPG and Twilight 2000), with players drawing on a pool of six-sided dice to handle combat and skill checks. A 6 indicates a success and the number of dice a player can roll is based based on their skill and attribute levels. Characters can also tap into unique push mechanics, allowing for re-rolls at the expense of stress or damage that can have catastrophic consequences during play.

Why we’re excited about Coriolis: The Fractured Library

  • More scenarios: Coriolis: The Great Dark is still a relatively new game and this is actually the only supplement to-date to feature any standalone adventures (something the game desperately needs more of).
  • Stunning artwork: Like most Free League products, the art and design in past Coriolis: The Great Dark supplements has been absolutely gorgeous and The Fractured Library looks to be no exception.
  • More lore and locations: From the descriptions of the new adventures, it looks like we’ll also be getting a chance to see some unexplored regions and factions in Charted Space.
  • Meaningful growth for the game: It feels like Coriolis: the Great Dark has flown under the radar for a lot of TTRPG fans, so it’s great to see that Free League is continuing to support and expand the game.

Final thoughts

Coriolis: The Great Dark is still a relatively new system, with just two products released so far (the Core Rulebook and The Flowers of Algorab campaign box set), so this new book of stalone adventures feels like a solid addition in terms of the growing lineup.
