Kobold Press Delves Into “Dungeons Deep”

Kobold Press just released a new product that takes on one of tabletop RPG’s most iconic locations: the dungeon. Enter Dungeons Deep, a new hardcover sourcebook that’s compatible with both Tales of the Valiant and the new 2024 5e rule set. The book offers over a dozen distinct dungeon locales filled with traps, treasure, factions and monsters and designed to challenge adventurers across multiple tiers of play. You can order it now directly from Kobold Press.

So is this new book worth adding to your next dungeon crawl? Below, we grab our torches and uncover all the details.

What is “Dungeons Deep” about?

Dungeons Deep is a 176-page book featuring 16 fully-realized dungeons that can be slotted into ongoing campaigns or used as standalone adventures. Each dungeon also comes with tiered monster loadouts (for low, medium and high levels) meaning GMs have a total of 48 encounter variations to choose from.

The book also goes beyond the standard cliched dungeons and instead offers up a wide variety of locales, including ruined temples, slime-filled caverns, a goblin-infested stalagmite fortress, a hidden feywild oasis and an obelisk guarded by clockwork constructs. The design philosophy, however, is all about flexibility. GMs can run the dungeons as written or cherry-pick elements to expand their own creations.

  • Hardcover Edition: $39.99 USD

Final Thoughts

Kobold Press has released a ton of amazing adventures and sourcebooks over the years, but it’s great to see them to return to the roots of TTRPGs and offer up what sounds like a solid mix of dungeon options for one shots or larger campaigns.
